Unique, contemporary built by noted American designer Peter Danko, an inventor, designer and artist, whose work has been curated by and is in the permanent collection of several museums including Museum of Modern Art, Cooper Hewitt Museum, Smithsonian American Art Museum and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
The house is earth-sheltered, designed with passive solar energy features, including glass on two sides with wall to ceiling views framed with mahogany, bathing the house in natural light. A seamless addition was added in 2006 that includes an attached two car garage, additional bedroom and an exercise/family room with a private sauna. Features include 10 ft ceilings on first floor and custom finishes.
The house is located in the Moyaone Reserve, contiguous to Piscataway Park, home of the National Colonial Farm, and Hard Bargain Farm, an environmental education center, and is across the Potomac River from George Washington's Mount Vernon home. Miles of hiking and biking trails, kayak and canoe launch sites are close by. Established community includes access to swimming pool, playground and organic garden plot. Within an easy commute to downtown DC, National Harbor, Old Town Alexandria and Capital Hill.
